Bernie Banovic, RPF
President
The founder and president of Fortec since 2007, Bernie is an industry professional with over 22 years of experience in the forest sector, and relies on his excellent judgment and professional background when making decisions. He has a broad base of experience managing large-scale projects and associated budgets up to $25 million.
In the Forest sector, Bernie manages all phases of operations from planning through to reforestation, delivering up to 500,000 cubic meters from licenses and 200,000 cubic meters of purchased logs, on an annual basis. A specialist in harvesting, road construction and cost control, Bernie has twenty years experience supervising these operations the contractors, negotiating rates and managing budgetary requirements. His responsibilities also include reporting to senior management with the required monthly reports quarterly production, timber valuation and marketing.
Bernie has extensive experience in administering road and bridge construction projects, completing and reviewing structural designs, construction supervision and environmental monitoring. Bernie is a seasoned negotiator for industrial proponents and First Nation groups, and he understands First Nation law in British Columbia.
Bernie is a Registered Professional Forester through the Association Of BC Forest Professionals.

Eric Dunnack, RPF
Operations Supervisor
Eric began his career with Fortec as a forester in 2012 and is now the company's Operations Supervisor. He is responsible for supervising and training field crews, consulting with First Nations and other stakeholders, timber development planning, appraisal, and submission of the appropriate tenures and permits to facilitate harvesting operations. Before joining Fortec, Eric worked in timber development for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and the US Forest Service in southeast Alaska.
Eric has a strong background in Geographic Information Systems and serves as Fortec's expert for mapping and mobile field technology. Eric earned his Master of Forestry degree at Michigan Technological University in 2010 and was the recipient of several awards for northern hardwoods research. He was also a GIS Analyst on a timber supply analysis for a proposed cellulosic ethanol facility. Aside from his education in Forestry, Eric has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Psychology and German from the University of Connecticut.

Glen Miller, RFT
Senior Technologist
As one of Fortec's most prominent technologists since 2008, Glen has 30 years of experience in forest engineering, hydro electric power generation, ground water inventory and forest inventory. He also has road and boundary engineering experience throughout British Columbia. Glen has performed hydrological and hydraulic calculations for micro hydro development, surveying duties, and Aquifer recharge calculations. Glen is our senior Technologist in our Anahim Lake office and works closely with the Ulkatcho First Nation and local community in forest planning.
Glen is an expert in mathematics, hydrology, and computer programming, and has developed software for field navigation with X:Y coordinates (not UTMs). Glen is also a registered forest technologist with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
